Kouyate Arts Youth Dance Workshop

ADEFUA is based at the Rainier Arts Center, directly next to the Columbia Park, where we have been offering free Cultural Dance classes for adults and youth during the months of July and August. The classes this weekend culminate a 7-week series taking place on Saturdays, from 11:00am-2:00pm. The Youth class is an open invitation for children ages up to 16 years old. Adult classes will be open to all levels. This project will be open to the public, allowing the opportunity for self- and family-empowerment encouraging participants to blossom within their environment. Families, individuals, people with and witihout disabilities, are encouraged to participate. These classes are sponsored by, City of Seattle, Parks & Recreation, Welcome Back Seattle Program.

Artist bio

ADEFUA Cultural Education Workshop, is a non-profit organization providing and connecting African Arts & Culture to youth and families. Our African Arts for All to See programs range from African Drumming, African Dancing, to specialized programing to include, A Rites of Passage Exploration to help young girls transition into adulthood and one of their outcomes is to develop their own mentorship plan as they move forward.

Drummers: Boka Kouyate, Naby Camara, Karim Koumbassa and Foluso Mimy.
Participants of all ages are taught a delightful diverse representation of West African cultures.
