There are several e-mail lists that are great ways to stay connected and spread information. These lists contain information about everything from upcoming drumming opportunities to specific rhythms from various cultures. Subscribing to an e-mail list is usually accomplished by visiting a web page or sending an e-mail to a specific address. You can then receive your messages in one of two methods: Individual E-mails or Daily Digest. You can set up which method you prefer by using the "Edit My Membership" link on the specific e-mail list web page link provided below.

Individual E-mails means that you will receive a message every time somebody sends a message to the e-mail list. This can result in receiving a larger quantity of e-mail, but you will receive the messages in a timely manner.

Daily Digest means that all of the messages sent to the list are stored and then sent to you at the end of the day. This reduces the amount of e-mail you get, but you may not receive event announcements in a timely manner.

Seattle Drum Jams

The Seattle Drum Jams mailing list is an email community for Seattle area hand drummers and world music dancers.

Djembe-L

Djembe-L is the premier, internet-based mail list dedicated to the ongoing development and maintenance of a knowledge base regarding the musical culture of West Africa, including the Diaspora. Emphasis is upon the countries of Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, and Cote d'Ivoire. This emphasis is to follow primarily the music of the djembe, as supported by chant, song, rhythms, and dance.

This list is moderated to promote good will and respect for the dedication. All interested in adding to, reading from, or asking of the knowledge base are welcome; so long as the interest is sincere to the subject matter, and the tone remains civil.

Dandemutande

The Dandemutande Email Distribution List is a group of around 400 subscribers who currently receive several messages each week pertaining to Zimbabwean music and related topics. Most of the messages announce musical events around the world and the availability of resources of interest to devotees of Zimbabwean music. Occasionally subscribers use the list to discuss topics in dialog.

Drum Circles

This list has a a huge membership from all over the globe. Discussion focuses on all aspects of drumcircle facilitation (DCF) working with a wide variety of populations. The uses, challenges, and dynamics of drum circles are discussed for groups ranging from school-age kids to special needs elders to youth-at-risk to corporate work groups.

You can ask questions of, share experiences with, and offer advice to, members of the group. If you are new to drum circle facilitation, the book "Drum Circle Spirit" by Arthur Hull will give you a good introduction. It will also help you decode what might seem like jargon used in list messages to describe things that happen in facilitated drum circles.
