University Heights Center
5031 University Way NE
Seattle, WA

head east on NE 50th Street (toward the Univ. district).
The UHC is an old school building on the northwest
corner of NE 50th and University Way.

New comers to the call of the drum are warmly welcomed. The focus is on jamming with a friendly and spirited rhythm community. And the Friday Rhythm-jam is more than hitting drum skins. We create rhythm songs improvised by the participants. We play with rhythm as a language expressed through drums, bells, shakers, wood percussions, marimbas, flutes, didgeridoos, and our voices.

The rhythm activities during our two hour jam include:

* Review hand drum technique and rhythm concepts, presented
in the context of group exercises that are fun and
interesting for experienced drummers and accessible for
new drummers.

* Facilitated jam session including community improvised grooves with orchestrated highlights.

* Traditional and (some) contemporary rhythms and songs.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

$5 adult fee - $1 if under 18 years old
(This helps with facility rental and donations to SWPS)
